PESTANA PORTO
In less than 10 minutes, a taxi brings you from
the train station to this fabulous 4-star hotel
in one of the most wanted spots in Portugal's
2nd city, Porto. On the banks of the Doura River,
facing the South, is Porto's Pestana Hotel.
Inside in a building from the 17th century we
find a perfect combination of comfort and luxus,
silence and service.
After the smooth check-in, we were offered a fine
glass of even smoother Porto, Portugal's national
and traditional drink - originating from this
city.
Room 302
Superior room (corner room). Normal rate approx

A split level room, separated in an area with
a desk and bathroom (upstairs) and another desk,
tv set and bed downstairs. Overlooking the river
on one side, overlooking a city square on the
other side of the room.
Bathroom:
Very spaceous! Marble floors and walls, two huge
floor-to-ceiling windows (offering a fabulous
view over the river when you're taking a bath!),
toilet, bidet, towel rack, hairdryer, a nice collection
of soaps, gels and shampoos.
Room:
* ('Upstairs') spaceous closet with a safe and
extra pillows and blankets. Next to it a small
desk with mini bar underneath. Fair prices for
a hotel in his price range (EUR5 for a coke).
* ('Downstairs') King size bed, color tv, desk
with a full set of stationery, two mirrors and
a caraf (?) with port, next to it four pieces
of the most delicate powdered chocolate cake.
The TV has about 12 channels - not that much.
But why would you want to watch TV when you have
a room with this view...
The next morning we enjoyed the breakfast buffet
in the hotel's restaurant; a fine choice of fruits,
breads and rolls, juices and cereals. Also available
are scrambled eggs, bacon and sausages.
After breakfast we were shown around the hotel and
learned about it's conference and meeting facilities.
With "only" 42 rooms, this is the kind
of hotel where you enter your room and feel home
immediately.
Pestana is a relatively small hotel chain offering
high level hospitality in Portugal, Cape Verde,
Brazil, Argentina and South Africa.
Highly recommended!
