EUROPE
Germany > Frankfurt
One of our best Hilton stays ever...

FRANKFURT
If there is one blooming city in Europe, it must be Frankfurt!
Widely known as a "business city" (after all, this is the home to the European Bank, one of the world's largest airlines - Lufthansa - and the birthplace of J.W. Goethe), this city with 'only' 600,000 inhabitants has, despite the common opinion, so many things to offer.
For example the 'Alte Oper' (Opera House), the 'Beach Club' and the new 'Cocoon Club', opened in 2004 by famous techno DJ Sven Våth.

INTRO & HISTORY
Frankfurt's Hilton Hotel officially opened in February 1999, after the Hilton Group had won a competition on who could start building on these grounds. For the 15 years preceding this, the area known as Handelszentrum (Commercial District) had a pretty bad reputation - or simply said, you wouldn't want to go here after sunset.
This dramatically changed a couple of years ago when the area improved, the notorious park gots its necessary renovation, and eversince it is one of the hotspots in Frankfurt with excessive rental prices for quite regular apartments.

THE PARK
As said, in the mid-1980's this area had a pretty bad reputation... the presence of drug dealers is just one example.
But now it has become an oasis of silence in downtown Frankfurt.
In the heart of the park you will find a small Garden House, which can be rented for small groups of 40-50 people (max) for small outdoor cocktail parties or a mini concert - or just a drink before going to the nearby Alte Oper, Frankfurt's famous Opera House.
In the park's west end there is still the original pond with many ducks. A nice detail: when the Hilton Group started building, it was confronted with the worries of duck lovers. Hilton solved this by saving the ducks and their pond, and renovating the ducks' undercome - now with a nice Hilton sign on the roof of their shelter place.

THE HOTEL

The hotel has 342 rooms, including 14 suites and a presidential suite. Rooms either have a Front view, a Park view, or they are corner suites. The corner suites are very spaceous, with floor-to-ceiling windows in a corner of the room with a gigantic view either to the park or to the Commercial District.

The guests
About 60% of this hotel's guests are members of Hilton Honors, which is a higher score than on any other hotel's loyality program. Approximately 80% of Hilton Frankfurt's guests are business travelers, who come here to find the rest and personal attention they need.

Dining and drinking
Besides the Vista Bar oppsosite the hotel's reception desk, there is the Asian Bar, formerly know as the Buddha Bar. Designed to attract not only the hotel guests but also the cities Upper Class and wannabe-Upper-Class, the Asian Bar is open till 2am, which makes it the only place in Frankfurt open for a late night / early morning meal or drink.
(Note that during the summer period the bar is closed till October).

In hotel restaurants, a Sunday brunch almost is a regular. Not in Hilton's Pacific Colors restaurant, where the Sunday Brunch has been replaced with a California Sunday Lunch with fresh fish, fresh fruits, and outdoor buffets if weather permits.
Normally, lunches are menus, whilst dinner is a buffet.

Art in the hotel
The hotel is home to a vast modern art collection, which is subject to change at least 3-4 times each year.
The whole hotel is helt in a modern design, which is especially characterised by the generous use of glass (approx. 10.000 qm2)

Safety
Because of its unique architecture, this hotel was exlaimed by Frankfurt's fire brigades as the safest hotel in the city. All the rooms are built around one central area. In case of fire, (xxx) closes and the roof opens, which makes the entire building like one giant chimney, giving the guest the possibility to leave the building safely.

Silence
Perfect insulation by double glazing and - very important - there are no rooms next to any of the elevators.
If you are looking for a quiet hotel, this is the place.

Indoor swimming pool, fitness
The hotel's swimming pool is a 25m half olympic size indoor pool, also with floor-to-ceiling windows and a view on the park behind the hotel. The pool is the largest you will find with a hotel in Europe,
Adjacent to the pool is the fitness room, which is part of a chain of 450 fitness clubs throughout Germany.

Here you find 200 sqm with the latest in fitness technology and with personal trainers to assist you. Jaccuzis, whirlpool and an all-nude sauna make this an all-in health centre.
Both the swimming pool and the fitness club are also accessible to non-hotel guests.

ROOMS AND SUITES

926 - Standard room
Equipped with a King Size bed, a desk with modem connection and LAN/DSL connection, minibar, bathroom wth separate bath/shower, color tv, coffee/tea maker.
Besides the rooms with King Size beds, there's also the choice of Double and Twin.
Rooms on the Executive floors are, beyond that, equipped with a printer/fax, SONY Playstation and a stereo.

1106 - Truman Suite
This corner suite with a nice view on the southeast and the Eschenheimer Turm (year) is a true suite with two separate rooms, unlike in some other hotels where any room with an extra chair is called 'suite'.
Equipment as usual, with an extra large minibar though, a dining table, and a bedroom separated from the living room cq office by a door.

1201 - Kennedy Suite
The hotel's presidential suite, which has been the home of people like Britney Spears, Joe Cocker, Sting and Cher.
Extra spaceous with a view on the southwest, high quality audio equipment, extra corners with seats, couches and tables, a separate kitchen, extra large cupboards and a double bathroom.

Extra detail
The bathrooms are equipped with some small details, and although you don't see them, you will definitely experience the advantages of, for example, heated mirrors. So no more steamed up mirrors. And what about separate bath and shower... taking a shower in your bathtub is out of time!

Executive rooms
The business rooms, aka the rooms on the hotel's three executive floors, are all equipped with a printer/fax device and installation software, which provide you with ultimate comfort and privacy - obviously don't want your important and confidential documents to end up at a hotel's reception desk.
Initially only the two top floors (11th and 12th) were for executive rooms. But since the demand for these rooms on the quiet executive floors became so high, managament decided also to make half of the number of rooms on the 10th floor available for this purpose.

At the two executive lounges, you can serve yourself a free breakfast, snacks, beverages of all types and pre-dinner canapées.

PERSONAL TOUCH

A very good way to make your customers satisfied, keep them happy and keep them coming back, is by adding a personal touch to each visit. Did you find a glass of fresh mango juice in your room when you came back from dinner? On your next visit, be assured that you will *not* find a glass of mango juice, but something else instead!

If you want to give people a VIP treatment, there are two options: either you don't do it at all, or you do it in a way so that it will be remembered for life.

BUSINESS FACILITIES, CONFERENCE ROOMS

With the large amounts of business travelers in this hotel, connectivity is a keyword.
WLAN (Wireless LAN) is available anywhere in the hotel, as are DSL and LAN connections. A short term subscription to the hotel's WLAN services is availiable at fair prices, starting at EUR10 for 1 hour.

Conference rooms
The hotel also offers 14 conference rooms, one of which is the Liberty Ballroom that can be used for banquets, product presentations and the like.

One floor down are the business rooms, from small to big. Most of these rooms have the HMQ certificate, (Hilton Meeting Qualification), which just means they comply to a number of Hilton standards such as connectivity, a coffee machine and certain safety procedures.

Even the Holopro technology is availabe in the 'Wall Street' room, which simply displays a 3D holographic image of one of the meeting's participants. Who said Star Trek?

The mentioned Wall Street room is a typical board meeting room. Next to it we find the Fifth Avenue room, where tables can be placed like in a classroom, or in a U-shape, whichever suits.
