THAI LI BA

Location:
The “Thai Li Ba” is an asian restaurant and is situated in the trendy “Rathausgallerie”, a shopping centre at the Adolf-Pichler-Platz where, among other boutiques and bars, also the designer “Hotel Penz” and the chill-out roof café “5th floor” are located. This restaurant shouldn’t be mistaken with the “Thai Li” – the “Ba” is the decisive matter, although the “Thai Li” owner is the same one as from the “Thai Li Ba”.

Interior:
The whole restaurant has a modern design and a cosy ambience. The furniture itself is held in warm and typical asian colours. The probably most remarkable thing at the “Thai Li Ba”, what the interior concerns, is the open show kitchen, which gives you an insight in how an asian kitchen is working. There’s one who cuts fresh, tasty vegetables and places it in bowls, another is sorting out the ingredients which a certain dish requires, and the cook puts it together with flavouring in a wok. Finally, the meal is garnished and served, everything happens within minutes.

A terrace is available as well, though you would actually prevent yourself from enjoying the atmosphere inside. What we found a bit disturbing was that the tables stood a bit too dense to each other. A reservation at this rewarded restaurant, for lunch and dinner, is recommended.

Food:
Delicious! You’ll encounter a great combination of tasty meat (also fish) with fresh, firm fruits and vegetables. The presentation of the meals has improved as well over the last months. We ate the best duck ever eaten. To get the original asian feeling, you can of course order chopsticks to your meals.

Menu:
The “Thai Li Ba” also serves “business-lunch”, which are selected dishes in smaller portions and lower prices ( without starter: 6,80 EUR, price with starter: 7,30 EUR)

For starter we recommend: "THAI LI BA’S SELECTION" – a selection of starters for two or more, for two persons, 6,90 EUR per person
A generous selection of appetisers consisting of baked prawns, grilled satays, spring rolls and tempura vegetables. Plus perfectly blended dips.

Service:
The service is throughout friendly, but sometimes slightly inattentive. The staff is energetic and seems to be busy all the time, and confer their hurry upon the guest. We didn’t mind though, as we know that the “Thai Li Ba” is booked out almost every day which is a sign for it’s great success.

Price: Above average, but appropriate for a restaurant of this category

PAPA JOES

Experience
“Papa Joes” is the third "Living Restaurant", which was opened in 1992, and is a mix of grill-restaurant, cantina and American bar in the medieval town of Innsbruck. The restaurant has a very great, creative interior, with a carribbean and mexican touch. The cuisine is based upon three specially selected north American regional kitchens, Florida, the southwest of the Indians and California. It serves, beside cocktails and other beverages, a lot of dishes from a varied menu card - snacks, soups, starters, different kinds of meat and fish, a mexican and caribbean section and, among other meals, great ribs and wings as well as desserts. You’re actually really gorging yourself, but it’s just great :-)
The desserts are almost not possible to finish, as you’ll have enough from the main course – the dishes are luxurious and filling. The prices are very moderate, the service is friendly and the preparation fast.

Overall: “Papa Joes” is a cool restaurant to hang out and to enjoy great food.

”Mojito” – light Havanna rum, fresh mint, lime juice and soda
PS: If you order Coca-Cola, Sprite or whatever, you’ll get sth from a third party – it just happend that we saw that.

Main course:
small mixed salad, with spicy dressings;
herbs-mustard dressing, joghurt dressing, vinegar-oil-herbs marinade, caribbean-dressing, garlic-cream dressing, parmesan-cream dressing and “Papa Joe's Favorite” - the spicy and hot one!

Cheese Burger: generious filled cheeseburger with rosé meat, french-fries
